Two Regional Championships take place on Saturday May 10th at Forest Town.
These are the hard track and roller racing.
The hard track will have a 1 lap time trial followed by a series of sprints. All races take place in age groups : under-8 ; under-10 ; under-12 ; under-14 ; under16 ; over - 16. Ages are calculated on September 1st 2007 - the beginning of this school year. The track there is unique and can be ridden on any type of bike. Instead of the usual two bends at either end of the track it has four corners! This provided a safe track ideal for beginners.
Roller racing is great fun. Your bike is clamped onto a set of rollers which are connected to a large board which has distance circle marked on it. Your bike makes an arrow turn. There will probably a 500m time trial followed by a series of sprints. Age groups are as those listed above.
Both events are very much come and try it events and are ideal for beginners at racing.
We will pick you and your bike up from near to your home, take you to the event and return you home after the afternoon‘s championships. We aim to leave the Matlock area around 9am and be home again by 6pm. You will need some food, a helmet, your bike, clothing to race in and perhaps a waterproof.
This initial trip will be free but you must let us know if you are coming by May 1st. You need to enter the events on the form attached and make sure that this isreturned by 26th April or sooner.
