Come to Buxton on Thursday, 4th July and help Matlock retain the inter-club trophy.

1. Club Room.

The Barn club room is open each Thursday evening after the hilly time trial - from about 19.15 to 20.00.

Dr Bike sessions are by appointment only but are open to everyone, not just club members. Please ring Rob and he will arrange to bring the tool kit down to club on a Thursday evening.

2. Mountain Bike Section.

Meets each Saturday morning in June at the station car park entrance. These rides meet at 9.15 and leave at 9.30.

Monday evening rides start outside the Laburnum, Hackney Road, at 18.30. Further details of both outings from Tony Holmes.

3. Thanks.

Thanks to all the riders who acted as emergency time keepers for the 5s and short hillys.

Thanks to Ian, Dave, Mark, Alastair, Peter, Harry, Danny who helped with the successful promotion of the Open 10.

Thanks to Rob, Harry, Geoffrey and Hazel who entertained the 29 youngsters at St Elphins.

5. Newsletters.

Mark has volunteered to produce an Email version of the newsletter. If you would prefer to receive this version rather than the printed version please Email him (see above for the address).

6. Press Secretary.

Ron Duggins is our Press Secretary. He can be reached on 01629 584677 or Email using dalesecho@aol.com . He needs your news by 20.00 on the Sunday evening.

7. National Bike Week,15th - 22nd June

.

Events organised by the club for National Bike Week include

a) Come and try off road ride on Sunday, 16th June. Meet at the Station car park entrance, 09.15 for 09.30 start. Takes about 2 hours.

b) Family ride on the High Peak Trail on Wednesday, 19th June. Meet at Middleton Top car park at 19.00. Return around 21.00

c) Come and try off road ride on Saturday, 22nd June. Meet at the Station car park entrance, 09.15 for 09.30 start. About 2 hours duration or more if agreed.

8. Club Subscriptions, 2002.

They remain unchanged from 2001, Seniors: £10, Under-23: £5, Under-18: £1, Family: £15. All under -18 members are required to be members of either the BCF or the CTC. Subscriptions to Tony Holmes please.

9. Time trials 2002.

The list of the club events for 2002 is available at club. The newsletter gives up to date news of any amendments.

Note that club events are only free to club members.

10. Open Events.

The Grouse 10 takes place on Jubilee Tuesday, 4th June using the A10/16 with an 08.00 start. Danny would appreciated help with marshalling the event.

Would anyone like to help serve cups of tea after this Open event in the event HQ, Rowsley Village Hall? Cakes also appreciated.

The Tarmac 25 takes place on Sunday, July 6th. Entries (£5) close on Tuesday, 25th June. Please book the date. Ride if you are able (ie have a bike that works) or help with marshalling the event. Rob is the event secretary.

14. Darley Moor Crits

Richard Clark is promoting a two day event at Darley Moor on the Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday, 1st and Sunday, 2nd June consisting of two time-trials and two crits, He would appreciate as much help as you can give him on either or both days.

The third Darley Moor Crit promoted by Richard Clark takes place on Sunday 23rd June with a 12.00 start. The race is for 2/ 3/4/V. Help judging always appreciated.

15. Family Day at Darley Moor.

This takes place on the Jubilee Tuesday, 4th June, starting at 12.00. We will be testing for Trix Awards - a graded set of bike handling skill tests. The circuit (1.5 miles) will be available for traffic free leisure riding and there will be some fun races for young and old.

16.BCF Challenge.

The area heat takes place at Carsington on Saturday, 15th June. You must enter before you go by getting a form from your school or by contacting Peter Coddington of the Derbyshire Sports Forum. He can be found by phoning Derbyshire County Council (01629 58000). The first 100 applicants enter free - so hurry.This event is part of Derbyshire Sports Event at Carsington which starts at 10.00 and involves many other sports, which you can try.

17.Buxton Inter-club Events.

Dates are confirmed as Tuesday, 2nd July at Matlock and Thursday, 4th May at Buxton.

We managed to just hold on to the trophy last year by 2 points. Please book the dates and support your club.

18. Club Charity 2002

Every year the club club decides to support a different charity and any funds raised from a variety of events will be donated to the charity chosen for that particular year.

In 2002 the charity is the Derbyshire Air Ambulance.
