Matlock Cycling Club's Home Page.

1. Club Room.

The Barn club room is open each Thursday evening, after the hilly timetrial, from about19.30. to 20.30.

Note that there is no club on Thursday, 3rd July because of the inter-club event at Buxton.

Dr Bike sessions are by appointment only but are open to all members of the community, not just club members. They are by appointment only. Please ring Rob to book an appointment.

This months session takes place on Thursday, 17th July.

2. Mountain Bike Section.

Meets each Saturday morning in May at the station car park entrance. These rides meet at 9.15 and leave at 9.30.

Monday evening rides start outside the Laburnum, Hackney Road, at 18.30.

3. Thanks.

Thanks to Richard, Harry, Tony, Geoff, Clare and Peter for their help with the Grouse 10 mile time trial.

Thanks to Rob and Keith for their help with the Trix event at St Elphins.

Thanks to Tony, Dave, Mark, Rob, Steve and Peter for their help in making the visit of the Eubonne cyclists run smoothly.

5. Club Subscriptions.

These remain the same as 2002. Seniors: 10, Under-23: 5, Under-18: 1, Family: 15. All under -18 members are required to be members of either the BCF or the CTC. Tony knows the BCF subscription rates. Subscriptions to Tony Holmes please.

7. Newsletters.

If you would prefer to receive an electronic version rather than the printed version please Email Mark Fairman (see above for the address). The actual format that the letter will take is still under discussion, but will probably take the form of an HTML file.

8.2003 Road Race Championships.

This years Senior Road Race Championship takes place at Darley Moor on Sunday, 13th July. Entries with appropriate entry fee to Richard Clark or entry on the line.

9. Timekeepers.

Timekeepers are needed for the club events on Thursday, May 1st and Thursday May 8th for the short hilly time trial.

10. Results of Time Trials 2003.

The results of the clubs time trials can be found on the website. Comments on the mistakes welcomed and sought.

14. Darley Moor.

The Third Darley Moor crit takes place on Sunday, 13th July starting at 11.00. Richard Clark has more details.

15.Holiday Snaps/Slides/jpegs.

When you go on holiday, please take plenty of images so that you can regale us with your exploits on a Thursday evening as part of the Clubs Winter Programme.

17.Summer Tour 2004

We intend to go to France in July 2004 and see part of a stage of the Tour de France. Details later!

18.Summer Cross.

Wednesday evening cross takes place at Alfreton Park on 2nd and 30th July 2003. Under 12s at 7.00pm and others at 7.30pm. You dont need to enter, just turn up and support them. Details from 01773 570539.

19.National 24 hour Championship.

This takes place on the weekend of 26th/27th July with a 14.00 start. The event is based south of Chester. We have a two riders competing - Richard Thoday and Eric Ruthenberg. We would like to assemble a back-up crew to keep two riders riding. If you can give any time during this weekend it would be welcomed. The club is willing to pay for food and petrol. Please let Richard Thoday or Rob know. Ideally we would like 1+ people to be involved. Please help.

20.Best Improvers Trophies.

This will be awarded to the riders who shows the greatest percentage decrease in the time he/she takes to cover the club 10 mile time trial course compared to his/her best performance over the same course in the previous two seasons. Similarly with the Long Hilly Circuit. Ask Stewart Marsh for more details.

21.Touring Trophy.

This evening entertainment will take place on Wednesday, 23rd July starting from the club room from 18.30. All you need is a bike an OS map [preferably of this area], a pencil and a sense of humour.

23.Open Events in July

The Tarmac 25 takes place on Sunday, 6th July. Help with running this event always appreciated as are cakes on the day. Contact Rob if you can help.

24. CTT Handbooks.

Tony is taking orders for the 2004 handbooks. Money, 6, with your order please.

25. Club Charity 2003

Every year the club club decides to support a different charity and any funds raised from a variety of events will be donated to the charity chosen for that particular year.

In 2003 the charity is Muscular Dystrophy.
