e) Up to 40% off some ferry fares.

A really useful ferry discount is now available to club members thanks to a company called Alternative Promotion, based in Weston Super Mare. Adge Last has used this service for many years – discounts tend to be in the region of 30 40% on a range of different crossings. Before calling them, have all the details to hand: the crossing you want, your dates of travel and the vehicle & passenger details. Then call them (Monday to Friday office hours) with your request and they will get you a quote. You will then need to arrange payment and they will issue the tickets or a reference number. Please be reasonable with this service don‘t make speculative calls - I usually have an idea of what the crossing would cost me from other sources so when they give me a price I can say yes or no immediately to save them from hanging around. Alternative Promotion: 01934 824138 When you contact them it is important that you let them know that you are a cyclist from Matlock CC and have been given the contact by Adge Last.

Club Auction.

Harry Gould thanks everyone who made the 2008 Auction such a success, especially Rachel Sharp, Robin Gould, Tony Holmes and those that attended and bid and those that put the very large range of goods for sale. The evening went very quickly and efficiently, most items were sold (there still a few lots left for late bids!) and the purchasers were satisfied with what they paid. The sale totalled £520 and an additional £5.50 cash was donated. Some sellers donated all their proceeds or more than their 10% commission to the Young Riders Fund and so raised if not the record amount for the YRF, a sum very close indeed to it. £265.20 was raised for the YRF.

Club Charity

The 2008 club charity is the Derbyshire Air Ambulance. The main fund raising effort is the raffle at the club‘s Trophy Presentation Evening.Other donations gratefully received

BSCA Races In May

The Hard Track Championships also take place on Saturday, 10th May. The track there is unique and can be ridden on any type of bike. Instead of the usual two bends at either end of the track it has four corners! This provided a safe track ideal for beginners. Forest Town is just the other side of Mansfield. Ask Richard Thoday for the easiest way of getting there The entry fee for each event is £5 and entries should be on a BSCA entry form. Entries should close on Tuesday, 1st May. If you are a member of Matlock CC the club will refund your entry fees as long as you actually compete. We hope to organise a trip to these championships. Watch this space.
