July 1999


1. Mountain Bike Section.

Meets each Saturday morning in July at 9.00 starting from the station car park entrance. Monday evening rides start outside the Thorntree at 18.30. Further details of both outings from Tony Holmes on 01629 734753.


2. Thanks.

Thanks to all who helped with the BCF races at Darley Moor, the Grouse 10, Starkholmes Fete and the Mountain Bike race.

3. Club Room.

The Barn club room is open after the hilly event each Thursday evening in July, except for the Ist, from about 19.30 to 20.30.


4. Newsletter.

Congratulations on finding our newsletters at http://www.argonet.co.uk/users/cj/cycling/index.html. We would value your comments on our efforts.


5. Winter is Upon Us.

The cross season starts soon (next week probably) and you will need a BCCA card/licence for the 1999/00 season. Harry has the forms..


6. Press Secretary.

Mark Fairman needs informing of all of our exploits. Please call him on 01629 583564 with all your results as soon as possible after the event.


7. Impruve Event

The next Impruve training event is the BSCA crits at Darley Moor on Saturday, July 10th, with signing on from12.00. Help always appreciated as would be more riders.



8. Tarmac.

Tarmac 25 takes place on Sunday, 4th July, with first man off at 7.00. Please let Rob know if you can help.


9. Brownies.

Testing time for the Cromford Brownies is on Wednesday, 7th July, 18.00 at Cromford Meadows. We need some members on bikes, as part of the test is to go on a short ride (round the Meadows) Please come if you can.

10. Club Events.

Tuesdays, 6th, 13th*, 20th and 27th, July: 10 mile TT. 19.00 start from 4 Lane Ends, Darley.
Note: We anticipate some disruption to these 10s due to road works. 5s will be substituted from Picory Corner. Meet at Darley Dale anyway. Thursdays, 8th*, 15th, 22nd and 29th, July: Long Hilly TT. 19.00 start from Cromford railway station.

*=Club Championship.
Under-18 riders must have completed and returned a RTTC parental consent form, before they can start club events.

11. Club Subscriptions

Club subscriptions for 1999 became due on the 1st January. Please hand or send completed enrolment forms together with payment to Tony Holmes or Harry Gould.


12. Buxton Inter-Club.

A change to Events 1999. W e go to Buxton/Fairfield on Thursday, 1st July. Race starts at 19.00.

14. King Cycle Tests.

Introductory meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 2nd September at 20.00, using the club room. The first session will be on the following Saturday, 4th September. Details later.
